Meek Mill Pays The Bail For 20 Incarcerated Women For The Holidays

Meek Mill teamed up with Michael Rubin, JAY-Z and a few others in 2018 to create REFORM Alliance, a non-profit organisation dedicated to probation, parole and sentencing reform. They support other great causes too. In the first few weeks that the pandemic hit the west, they donated 100,000 masks to prisons.

Now, Meek has done something special for the holidays.

The Philly rapper has posted bail for twenty women who were held at the Riverside Correctional Facility in his hometown. Five of them have already been released and the following fifteen will be out at some point in the next week.

On the decision, Meek called back to his own time behind bars. “It was devastating for me to be away from my son during the holidays when I was incarcerated” he said. “So I understand what these women and their families are going through. No one should have to spend the holidays in jail simply because they can’t afford bail. I’m grateful for the opportunity to help these women be with their families and loved ones during this special time of year.”
